Social Work

Drama Therapy

My approach focuses on helping individuals uncover patterns that may be holding them back and guiding them toward achieving their goals. Together, we will work to create a space where you feel safe and supported to explore and address your unique challenges.

With years of experience as a youth and gerontological social worker, I specialize in supporting individuals facing challenges related to emotional regulation, self-confidence, and fostering healthier relationships. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from McGill University and am a licensed member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

Using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, strengths-based interventions, and solutions-focused strategies, I aim to facilitate meaningful growth and healing. Whether it’s building emotional regulation, improving self-esteem, or cultivating stronger, healthier relationships, I am here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together toward a more confident and fulfilling future

What would it feel like to share a space with someone that is giving you their undivided attention? A space without judgement, only curiosity about your story and who you are. It may be an unfamiliar image. All you need to do is show up and be whoever you need to be. I will offer you that space, and meet you where you’re at.

It can be frustrating not to understand why we are doing something that has undesirable results. It can be difficult to change a behavior that has an unknown cause. Maybe you are confused about how you are feeling or who you are.

Whatever it is, I will hear you.

As a Drama Therapist, I’m paying attention to everything - not only your words. I aim to give a voice to the things you’re struggling to express, and guide you to expand on what you’re already saying. My fundamental approach to every client, whatever age, whatever challenges you bring, is strengths-based. Through uncovering moments of strength within your experiences, I believe the exploration of the more challenging moments becomes less scary and more empowering.

I use a wide range of tools to explore a person’s experiences to more deeply understand your emotions, needs and behaviors. Through the use of both talk therapy and more creative approaches such as role exploration, metaphor, storytelling, movement and other forms of creative expression, your inner world can be accessed on a deeper level.

Training and experience

I am trained in Drama therapy, Play therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, Relational Needs and Motivational Interviewing. This allows my approach to be open and adaptable to anyone seeking support. I will always strive to build an honest relationship with you, so if we feel that another approach would be more beneficial to you, I will do my best to help you find the appropriate clinician.

My diverse work experience also supports my ability to be flexible with different populations. I have worked with children and teens with a variety of challenges such as developmental trauma in youth protection, behavioral difficulties, anxiety, eating disorders, learning and communication difficulties. I have worked with families looking to reconnect and play together. I have experience working with children, teens and adults on identity exploration, forced and voluntary immigration and asylum seeking and language barriers, relationship challenges and conjugal violence. I also have 5 years of experience working with adults with post-stroke aphasia and primary progressive aphasia and their caregivers.

I believe that you have what you need to make changes in your life, heal or understand yourself better. You just might need some support in finding that inner wisdom. I look forward to getting to know you.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed and distressed, reaching out for help takes courage. My priority is to make sure you feel understood and supported, creating a warm and trusting relationship that acknowledges your strengths and honors the challenges you’ve already overcome. Together, we’ll work towards your goals in a safe and welcoming space.

I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach that affirms LGBTQ and neurodivergent experiences when working with children and adults. Our sessions will focus on exploring any limiting beliefs, societal messages, or external factors affecting your perspective. We will work together to reconnect you with narratives that bring greater fulfillment, joy, and creativity. I’ll support you in building confidence, deepening self-exploration, and identifying beliefs that open up new possibilities. Our collaboration can help you handle stressors more effectively, increase self-esteem, and feel more connected in your daily life. In individual drama therapy, we might engage in activities like storytelling, role-playing, crafts, music, movement, or character creation, allowing you to experiment with new perspectives in a non-judgmental space. There’s no need to be “good at art” or have experience in performing arts—these activities are adaptable to your interests and goals. We’ll use imagination and playfulness to explore insights that talking alone may not reveal. Everyone can reconnect with their creativity and benefit from the joy of play!

I also specialize in working with children facing challenging life transitions or struggling with interpersonal relationships, low confidence, or anxiety. For children who need help expressing strong emotions like anger in healthy ways, I provide therapeutic play sessions for ages 3-7, based on Child-Centered Play Therapy. These in-person sessions offer a space where children feel accepted and celebrated, allowing them to explore new ways of understanding themselves and interacting with their environment.
